The Destruction of Madelyn

In the campaign’s 4th session, the players encountered the Village of Madelyn, Talon’s hometown, in flames. Rushing into a secluded alleyway, the party found a mysterious woman tied onto a burning cross, surrounded by phantom warriors and magical beasts. The party managed to fight off the monsters and untie the woman, who was revealed to be the changeling Jack Pliskin named “the Truthteller.” Pulling Jack Pliskin aside, the Truthteller informed him that The Lunitari were not only a danger to Talon, but to Pliskin as well.

Armed with this knowledge, Jack Pliskin led the group deeper into the alleyway, searching for answers. The party encountered a seemingly-abandoned home that seemed to have become the lair of a hideous giant slug and its elemental caretakers. After a near-deadly struggle, the players managed to destroy the threats and investigate the house, where Garret found, among a sickening pool of mucus and slug droppings, an invisible stone inscribed with a series of inscrutable sigils. Sarien was able to determine that the symbols share certain qualities of the Deep Speech alphabet and were likely made by slaves to Mindflayers. How they ended up in the lair of an enormous slug was a mystery. Garret, drawn to the stone’s powerful psychic presence, pocketed the stone, and found it assaulted his mind, troubling him with headaches and nightmares until he relinquished the stone to Talon.

The group set out from Madelyn towards Taras and encountered a young guard named Horuku, whom they told the story of Madelyn and of the Lunitari’s genocidal agenda.
